5.1. Methodological overview

The learning process designed for this subject is based on the following:

-Learning the professional skills of geologists, the various types of projects and their content (different types of documents, formal requirements and content, legislation and regulations).

 

-Practicals: taking into account the applicable laws and regulations, the student will work on different case-studies related to various aspects of the projects (data processing, drawing conclusions, feasibility of a recommendation, administrative procedures, documentation, activities, etc.)

 

- Tutored individual work: project planning and schematic development of the documentation required. Each student must present and defend their work to teachers and other students.

5.2. Learning tasks

The following activities are offered to help the student to achieve the expected results:


Activity 1: Learning the usual procedures applied to the development and implementation of projects on different fields of geology. Learning legislation related to Geology

Methodology: Participatory Lectures (2,5 ECTS)

Competencies:

- Knowing procedures for developing projects, reports and studies on various aspects of Applied Geology.

- Understanding and interpreting legislation related to different areas of Geology

- Writting, planning and scheduling a project

- Knowing the civil responsibility in the development of professional activity. Develop skills and strategies work in situations of legal conflict

 

Activity 2: Learning practical management methods and project supervision.

Methodology: Seminars, case-studies (2 ECTS)

Competencies:

- Develop projects, reports and studies on various aspects of Applied Geology.

- Knowing tools for project monitoring

- Manage projects of geological nature and Geological advise on other projects.

 

Activity 3: Case-studies and design of a Project.

Methodology: Individual work, monitoring, tutoring and specific seminars (1,5 ECTS)

Competencies:

- Gathering information from various sources and analyze it critically.

- Developing projects, studies and reports.

- Correctly writting technical documents

- Writting and oral presentation of essays.

5.3. Syllabus

The program is divided into 24 theoretical subjects, and twelve sessions of practical classes and guidance for the development of a personal work.

T06: Mining legislation: .The RD 975/2009 and the Law 21/2013 on environmental assessment

T07: Legislation on Water and Shores.

T08:  Legislation on Mines, Water and Shores for continuous evaluation

T10: Legislation on natural heritage and environment. Environmental Impact Assessment.

T11: Cultural heritage legislation

T12: Prevention of occupational hazards. Social Security

T13: Quality, norms and certification I

5.4. Course planning and calendar

The lectures will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:00 throughout the second semester.

The practical sessions will be held on Wednesday: group I) from 15:00 to 18:00; group II) from 18:00 to 21:00.
